RUGBY INSTITUTES

The UXi Rugby Institutes have been developed to ensure a national footprint in South Africa with the purpose to offer OPPORTUNITIES AND HOPE for players and coaches alike, internationally and abroad.

These Institutes are situated mostly inside/alongside UNION structures and placed within the stadiums and or in close proximity of the Union Hubs, as many of the coaches in the system also coach for the Union Currie Cup tournaments and A league club structures.

The Institutes and Schools offer a structured national programme aimed to improve every player in the system to his/her highest level of competition with a uniquely developed sports science orientated PLAYER AND POSITION development plan, that incorporates not only sport development but also career development and education.

Choose to start your Rugby Career at one of our mainstream Institutes, Regional Rugby Development Academies or if you are U/18, you can join the UXi International School of Rugby based at the UXi International Schools or the part-time international rugby programme at the mainstream institutes.

UXi International School of Rugby

The UXi International School of Rugby has been designed to develop a love and appreciation of the game of rugby at every age starting from 13 years old, through fun and exciting activities learning to handle the ball, running, catching, and passing fundamentals.

Our world class coaches INSPIRE and IGNITE a passion for physical activity, wellness, strength and endurance by facilitating a process of understanding and development of every individual’s athletic ability.

These school’s programmes will prepare pupils to participate as players internationally and locally. Players are prepared to proceed to the South African mainstream rugby institutes, universities, clubs or other international opportunities and will receive quarterly progress reports on their individual player/positional development.

FAQ

Can I play just rugby without any of the other programmes (Academic, Life Skills, Mental)?

No. Our vision at the UXi Rugby Institutes is to inspire greatness, through sports to LIFE, and to develop a holistic individual being and prepare them for life in and after sport. The other components of the programme (academic qualification, life and mental skills programme) are integral to this holistic development process and is what makes the UXi Rugby Institutes so successful, and therefore cannot be excluded.

Can I move to another UXi Rugby Institute in the following years?

Of course! Our UXi “National Footprint” encourages you as a student athlete is play, stay, study and travel your way across our beautiful South African landscape. For this reason, we have 6 UXi Rugby Institutes across 6 Provinces, all which follow the same UXi Programme and Nationally Accredited Academic Qualification. This means that you can transfer to a different Institute, if you are presented better opportunities there, without any interruption to your programme.
