Let’s use sport as an excample: you love sport and participate throughout your schooling career, and maybe even play socially when you’re in university. Then once you’ve graduate, it’s as if a big red “STOP” sign is placed in front of you and your participation in sport rapidly decreases because suddenly society is telling you that it’s “time for you to focus on your career”. Why should we have to sacrifice our passion and what makes us feel alive? WHY NOT MAKE YOUR PASSION YOUR CAREER?

South Africa and its people of the rainbow nation, love the game of rugby – and who can blame them? We are a 4-time Rugby World Cup winning country, who broke down every barrier of our past to be where we are today. In the midst of all the negativity, sadness and anger which filled our hearts in the past, RUGBY was the one thing that was able to unite the nation. Rugby success in South Africa has a long history, with several teams and players making waves at the top levels of the game. When it comes to our national sports, the country has distinguished themselves as one of the greatest rugby union nations of all time.

We know that many young aspirant schoolboys and schoolgirls are passionate about rugby, and we know that they aren’t quite ready to give up the game they love after high school, especially if they didn’t receive a union contract or rugby bursary. In fact, they want to give this sport their best shot and commit to creating a career for themselves in rugby. The UXi International Rugby Institutes are dedicated to making this happen!

The world of rugby and sport boasts with exciting careers on and off the field. The UXi Sport rugby development and career programmes serve as the “first of its kind” teaching and learning platform, whereby the focus is on INDIVIDUAL PLAYER DEVELOPMENT and LONG-TERM ATHLETIC PROGRESSION. The key objective of these programmes is to ensure that every participant reaches his/her highest level of competition, whether on-field or in life, as player or a professional in the workplace. With over 300 student-athletes enrolled, this programme is driven by a dedicated team of professional rugby coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, high performance sports scientists, video and game analysts, biokineticists, life skills coaches and career guidance facilitators across six provinces.

At the UXi International Rugby Institutes, we provide elite playing opportunities and learning eXperiences to our student-athletes, nationally and internationally. Since 2021, UXi Sport has assisted in generating opportunities for over 90 players who have actively participated in Currie Cup competitions. These eXceptional individuals were either overlooked at other esteemed school tournaments or hailed from previously disadvantaged schools. It has been a remarkable sight to witness UXi Sport alumni taking to the fields of Cape Town Stadium, proudly representing the Western Province with the iconic disa emblem on their chests during televised Currie Cup matches. Our platform has opened doors for numerous players to engage in university and international play, expanding their horizons. Our UXi national footprint also allows for easy movement between provinces to take up opportunities without any disruption the rugby programme.
